Alan Rickman played the sinister and evil judge, who was the initiator to frame Todd. Sacha Baron Cohen starred the competitor of Todd, the vain barber Signor Adolfo Pirelli. It was also the first film Cohen participated in after the film ldquo;Boratrdquo;.
This story was already adapted into a Broadway musical by Stephen Sondheim (the winner of both Pulitzer Prize and Best Original Song of Oscar) in 1979. It was also an enduring classic play, which won eight Tony Awards and was still on in New York. It was a musical about how a good guy became a serial killer.
All these years, many directors from Hollywood showed their great interests in this musical. Alan Parker (the director of the film ldquo;Evitardquo;) claimed he had the willing to adapt this musical into a film early in 1980s.
