Hide Flaws with Makeup

on Aug5 2011

We all want a perfect, fresh and natural look. And, even if sometimes it sounds really impossible to achieve this, if you follow just a few simple, efficient and easy to do makeup tips and tricks you’ll be able to hide any unwanted flaws without spending too much time in front of the mirror.

When it comes to correcting makeup for face shapes everything stands in lights and shadows. In the same time, the direction of the lines plays an important role in hiding certain flaws. Blemishes, scars and acne are easier to correct. For a correcting makeup up, you should always have a few secret weapons: foundation, two shades of powder, concealer and anti-dark circles eye treatment, blush.

Pimples and acne scars
Acne scars are usually a real problem and people dealing with it sometimes feel embarrassed and tend to have less self-confidence. If you want to hide acne scars through makeup, make sure your face is clean. Both pimples and acne scars can be easily hidden if you apply a pressed foundation, concealer and then some powder. Use a concealer that matches your skin tone. Apply these products on the entire face except for the concealer. Highlight certain parts of your face in order to draw the attention towards them.

Freckles
Freckles are thought to be a very sexy thing. You can choose to emphasize their beauty or hide them. If you have darker freckles, you should use an oil-based liquid or pressed powder foundation. A concealer applied before using the foundation might also work for dark freckles. But, if you are dealing with lighter freckles, a tinted moisturizer and a loose powder would do. In both cases, make sure you choose products that match your skin tone.

Close-set eyes
When it comes to close-set eyes the right choice means iridescent eyeshadows in light colors. In order to give the impression of width, use in the inner corner of the eye a nacreous color such as white, beige or cream-colored. Apply a contour using an eyeliner or a darker eyeshadow on the eyelid. The contour should be applied only to the middle of the eyelid as a whole contour would only give the impression of round eyes. Use mascara insisting to the outer corner of the eye.

Small and wide-set eyes
For small eyes use nacreous and light shades. The microparticles from nacreous eyeshadows reflect light and make things look bigger. Avoid precise, well-defined lines. Therefore, avoid eye liner and choose instead a dark eyeshadow applied at the basis of the eye. If you want to correct wide-set eyes you can add a darker eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eyelid.

Deep-set eyes
If you have deep-set eyes the best choice would be an Asian eye makeup, which is pretty easy to do. Apply uniformly on the eyelid a darker eyeshadow and a lighter color on the arch.

Dark circles under the eyes
The skin around the eyes is very sensitive and it needs special attention. Dark circles can appear due to low blood pressure in the peri-ocular area. The darker ones can have hereditary causes, while the violet ones can be the sign of some internal diseases. Besides the use of an anti-dark circles eye treatment, medical investigations are recommended if dark circles become stronger. As for the makeup, you must apply a concealer in mauve or yellow shades before applying the anti-dark circles eye treatment. These two colors neutralize the color of the circles before the treatment.

Fast makeup tips for holiday

on Jul8 2011

When talking about winter holidays we all tend to think to glowing and sparkling colors. As sometimes it is rather difficult to manage the hectic schedule and still being able to face the specific holiday demands, such as attending evening events or Christmas parties you just need some basic makeup rules in order to look stunning without too much effort.

Remember that a daytime look can easily be transformed into a party makeup. For this you should invest into a transparent compact powder that will instantly give a matte finish to your skin. Then, there are the already known tools you should use. For example, for a more dramatic look, you can accentuate the light color of the eyeshadow you normally use during the day. You can apply a thicker layer of eyeshadow until obtaining the intensity you want. On the other hand, you can use eyeliner for a mysterious look. Don’t forget the mascara for volume. As for the lips, a matte, darker color would work great. One essential thing to keep in mind is the blush, as you have to avoid a pale look.

Even though this first way of applying makeup can be useful – especially for women who are always in a hurry – the right thing to do is to start everything from scratch. In this case, it is essential to follow all the basic steps of the makeup process because we don’t just want to obtain a beautiful result, but our objective is to maintain our skin healthy. Therefore, cleansing is one important stage that cannot be disregarded.

Always choose a special cleansing lotion for the eye area, which is more sensitive and another one for the rest of the skin. Don’s scrub as you might damage the skin, but gently remove makeup even if this means using more cotton pads.

Makeup Tips for Perfect Looking Skin

on Jul7 2011

Don’t put looking fabulous on a second position, as looking great can actually help you feel great in your own skin, and since bad days affect us all, here are some great beauty tips and tricks to tackle exactly these problems. Perfect looking skin will ensure you look radiant at all times, so pay attention to details which can make a difference.

Concealer for red and yellow spotsUsing concealer can definitely help as they are especially designed to cover-up spots on your skin, spots which cannot be covered in full by foundation. However, if you want to obtain a flawless looking skin, you need to use the right shade of concealer. For yellow spots, especially the ones under your eyes, use a purple tone concealer, as this hue will neutralize the yellow. For blemishes use a green colored concealer as it will diminish the redness and allow the foundation to offer complete, even coverage.

Take time to blendBlending your foundation is very important if you’re aiming for a natural look. Take extra time to blend in the foundation on your jawline and cleavage as transition lines shouldn’t be visible. Natural is the way to go, so blend well and make sure your makeup is like your second skin.

Foundation and facial hairUpper lip hair can become much more visible when applying a thick foundation, so try to avoid applying too much product in that area. Use a light foundation instead and always apply the foundation in the direction of the hair growth. Powder can also make the hairs much more visible, so try go light in these areas.

Foundation and flaky skinNothing can look more unaesthetic than foundation applied on dry, flaky skin. The product will get into the skin and emphasize the skin flakes. Flaky skin usually develops due to dryness, so try to remove dead skin cells by scrubbing at least once a week and moisturizing on a daily basis. Apply a moisturizer to your clean complexion before applying foundation.

Mix different shades if you tanIf you love to tan, you’re probably going to need at least two foundation shades, as which each tan your foundation might not blend as naturally with your skin. To make sure you look amazing without spending money on multiple foundation shades, purchase a lighter and a darker foundation which you’ll be able to mix to obtain a custom color to match your needs at that moment.

Perk up tired eyesIf you look tired, you definitely have to revitalize your look and you can easily do this with the help of some cucumber slices, tinted moisturizer and highlighter. Rest for 10 minutes with cucumber slices on your eyes. Rinse your skin, moisturize and apply a highlighter on your brow bone, cheeks and inner eye corners for a radiant, luminous and refreshed look.
